Funeral set for 23-year-old former Kasich campaign aide - The Columbus Dispatch

Saturday, June 10, 2017

Jeff Polesovsky called Dupain "best kid with big dreams."The old Kasich campaign team is gathering at a local restaurant Thursday. Then some are heading to services this weekend at Lee & Martin Funeral Home in Dupain's hometown, Burgettstown, Pennsylvania. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in the same town.A gofundme page by a woman slated to be a bridesmaid at this fall's wedding raised more than its $15,000 goal is just two days to help cover funeral costs. Those first spotting Dupain on the campaign trail often did a double-take because he resembled a young Ted Cruz. His role was to coordinate the dozens of details — from seating to lights to sound to backdrops to press accomodations — needed for a 21st century campaign event. He was a four-year letter winner in high school football, made the state track meet as a hurdler, belonged to the National Honor Society and was vice president of his senior class. He was awarded a scholarship to Capital University, where he played football. His obituary says, "He was a kind, talented and exceptional young man. Besides football, he was passionate about music. Along with his friends Roger Vigliotti and Tyler Zelenko, he formed the band Court Four where he was the lead singer, guitar player and songwriter recording two albums and performing with Great White and Amos Lee. His favorite song to perform was Jimi Hendrix's 'Hey Joe' for his mom."Ryan was a shining...

Davis has bad week with sparce solidarity walk, theft - The Augusta Chronicle

Monday, October 03, 2016

Powell; Henry Ingram, the chairman of the Augusta Economic Development Authority; Clint Bryant, Augusta University’s athletic director; Booker T. Washington, a Mays Mortuary staff member; John Henry Martin, the owner of Martin Funeral Home in Estill, S.C.; and Willie Watkins, the owner of Willie Watkins Funeral Homes.‘CAUSE EVERY GIRL IS CRAZY ‘BOUT A SHARP DRESSED MAN: Powell said he had a roasting speech prepared, but his wife, Charanne, said he couldn’t give it, so he gave a tamer one about how Mays got the nickname “Souper Man.”Next up was Ingram, who said, “Like Sen. Powell, I had great utterances for you tonight, but my wife took it away from me. Said I could not use it. So I had a dilemma – to tell the truth or tell some lies. So I decided to do a combination of both.“Willie has always been an individual to make sure that the service was pristine, that, in fact, it operated at the apex,” Ingram said.“There was just one client who was a little disappointed. She called Willie several months after the funeral. She said, ‘Mr. Mays, I paid you in full for the funeral, and I’m getting monthly bills from you, and I want to know why.’“Willie told her, ‘I want to go investigate, and I’ll get back with you.’“Willie went back and investigated, and he called the lady and said, ‘The problem is you buried him in a rented suit.’”THE THREE-MINUTE RULE: Before calling Bryant to the microphone, Simmons, who had entertained the crowd with jokes for almost an hour, reiterated his three-minute rule for speakers.“Just keep moving,” Simmons told Bryant. “Three minutes.”Bryant noted that nobody had invoked the three-minute rule on Simmons.“It was like the Paul Simmons Show,” he said. “Come see Willie. Hear Paul.”“One thing I did learn,” Bryant said. “And J.B. See, I didn’t write no speech, so Trish didn’t monitor me at all. That’s when you mess up – when you write it down. I keep it all right here,” he said, pointing to his head. “So she ain’t told me nothing.”Bryant said he grew up in Washington, D.C., and didn’t mean to be mean about what he was going to say to Few about the folks from Augusta traveling to Washington to deliver good references about the chief to the city council. He said he knew Few “was in trouble when you go to Washington and you take the mortician. You take the preacher. And you take the fool. You took J.R. Riles. You took Willie Mays. You took Marion Williams. And you took the fool.”YES, THEY’RE TYING THE KNOT: After many years as Augusta’s most well-known eligible bachelor, Mays is engaged to the lovely Ray Roberson. During closing remarks, Mays said everybody likes to ask about the engagement and wedding.“I’m going to say this now so everybody won’t have to ask so many questions,” he said. “I may not answer every little ol’ thing, but I’m going to say, ‘Yes.’“Are they still in love? Yes.“Are they engaged? Yes.“Has Willie finished paying for the ring and all the jewelry? Yes.“Are they planning on getting married? Yes.“Is it going to be today?...
