Monday, September 26, 2016Mary Neal Simpson Bennett, 76, of Roanoke, went to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday, September 21, 2016. She was born in Roanoke, Virginia on November 7, 1939 to the late Neal and Capitola Simpson. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Kathrine Simpson Conduff. Mary was a 1958 graduate of Jefferson High School. She then went on to graduate from James Madison College. Mary continued her education at the Medical College of Virginia receiving a degree in Medical Technology. Mary traveled the United States working in San Francisco, CA, Chapel Hill, NC, and Orlando, FL. She later returned back to her hometown where she retired as the Director of The American Red Cross. In her retirement she volunteered at the Jefferson Center, Center in the Square, and the Roanoke Civic Center. Mary was a member of the Daughters of The American Revolution and the Colonial Dames.
