California governor's 'first dog,' Sutter, has died - The Mercury News

Monday, January 02, 2017

Sutter began a steady decline and on Friday, the Browns made the tough decision to end his suffering. The Browns were at his side as he drew his last breath, and he was buried at the family ranch in Colusa County, where it is said he loved to “roam, sniff and play.”Sutter, who was born Sept. 24, 2003, originally belonged to Brown’s sister, Kathleen Brown. But when Kathleen Brown moved out of California in 2010, Gov. Brown and his wife took in the personable pup. They later added Colusa “Lucy” Brown, a Corgi mix, to the family. At times, Sutter seemed just as popular and well-known as his owner. His Twitter page attracted more than 11,000 followers, and his Facebook page, shared with Lucy, has almost 12,000 fans. The social media links featured photos of the Sutter dressed up for Halloween and preparing for Christmas.Brown’s press office shared a Tweet after Sutter’s death, “No colleague brought us more joy – & distraction – than you, @SutterBrown. We’ll miss you buddy. #GoodBoy”This article passed through the Full-Text RSS service - if this is your content and you're reading it on someone else's site, please read the FAQ at fivefilters.org/content-only/faq.php#publishers.Recommended article: The Guardian's Summary of Julian Assange's Interview Went Viral and Was Completely False.
