Monday, June 26, 2017Williams ( the late Ken Williams, Jr.), Caroline Craig, Nancy Murbury (Dave), Catherine O’Steen (Kevin), all of Florence, Margaret Schafer (Dan) of Houston, Texas, and Frances Guillemot (Gerard) of Los Angeles, CA. ; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.Ann showed interest in community from the beginning. She was an active member of the Muscle Shoals District Service League and served as one of its past presidents. A lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church, Florence, Ann served as elder, trustee, and Sunday school teacher while remaining active in the women of church. In addition, she held membership in the Florence Rotary Club, the Florence Historical Society, Shoals Preservation, Inc. and the National Society of Colonial Dames in America.The family would like to thank her caregivers for the past several years for there love and devotion.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Presbyterian Church, 224 E. Saturday, June 10, 2017Simpson Family Mortuary from continuing business as the company is referring potential customers to its Long Beach location through radio advertisements.Simpson Mortuary also is licensed in Los Angeles and San Bernardino.The mortuary, under the direction of Curtis Simpson Sr., Derrick Sherrod King and Sonya Latrese Simpson has been levied with numerous complaints from the State Attorney General and most recently in 2013 when the mortuary conducted a service with the wrong remains in the casket.In that case, Simpson Family Mortuary was cited with misrepresentation or fraud, gross negligence, gross incompetence or unprofessional conduct. Calls to Simpson Family Mortuary are forwarded to its Long Beach location.A woman answered the phone and explained that the Inglewood location was under renovation and will be reopened in about six months.Then after a long pause, another woman identified as Ms. Starks said that the company is not doing business in Inglewood that it is “Closed.”Individuals should contact the Department of Consumer Affairs and the Cemetery and Funeral Bureau before proceeding with any business at Simpson family Mortuary.

Upon leaving Chattanooga, he served as the band director at Fillmore Senior High School in Los Angeles, CA.Otis was regarded as a gifted “Musician’s” musician, who played several instruments. He produced and recorded numerous jazz renditions throughout his lifetime, as well as a book of quotes. Otis had made plans to produce memoirs of his life experiences with his daughter Felicia as his co-author along with his son Otis III assisting him in the publishing of several pieces of his music library prior to his demise.Otis had an exciting and productive career as a music and voice teacher, jazz pianist and writer. He performed in various venues across the United States, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Throughout his musical career, Otis played with several notable musicians including the late Ray Charles, the late Dizzy Gillespie, the late Lionel Hampton, the late Duke Ellington, the late Count Basie, Sonny Craves and numerous other musicians and entertainers.The most popular movie in which Otis participated was “Hello Dolly” as the pianist in the Louis Armstrong’s Orchestra.
