Haver was Jennie's niece, and continued to oversee the fund for 42 years, serving as its president until her hundredth birthday.Ella Haver graduated from Clinton High School, receiving a degree from Montclair State Teachers College in 1934 and her Master's Degree from Teachers College Columbia University in 1945.Scholarship ends after 6 decades, $2 million givenShe began her teaching career in 1935 with a short stint in a one-room schoolhouse in Hamden, Clinton Township, before going on to teach in North Branch, Green Brook and North Plainfield. She was a science teacher at Cranford High School from 1945-65, and finished her career with five years at Warren Hills Regional High School.A visitation at noon and funeral service at 1 p.m. will be held Monday at the Clinton United Methodist Church on Halstead Street.Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jennie M. Haver Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Nicholas Boxter, CPA, Treasurer, 3582 Route 22 West, P.O. Box 464, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.The fund was organized in memory of New Jersey's first "helping" teacher, Jennie M. MONTCLAIR -- More than 100 people gathered Friday for the tearful funeral of a 20-year-old Montclair college student, who was killed after she came home from school to visit family for Thanksgiving break.Sarah Butler, who studied at New Jersey City University in Jersey City, was remembered as a beloved and talented dancer with a bright future.
