Monday, December 12, 2016Robert “Bob” Roy Lochridge, age 70, passed away from this life and went up to Heaven to be with his Lord. Per Bob’s request, there will be no formal services held.Bob was born on October 28, 1945, in South Gate, California, to LeRoy and Jean (Desatoff) Lochridge. Bob grew up in Pico Rivera, California; graduating from El Rancho High School in 1963 where he excelled and lettered in football and baseball. Bob touched and changed the lives of everyone who was fortunate to have met him. He was a friend to all, and knew no strangers.Bob attended college for a while and held various jobs over the years before starting his career with Parr Lumber in August 1978. Over the years, he held different positions in stores throughout Portland, Vancouver, WA, and Bend, OR. When his health no longer allowed him to work, he retired from Parr Lumber at the Bend store in August 2012.Bob had two hobbies he was very passionate about, photography and woodworking. His woodworking yielded specialty and custom pieces and unique one-of-a-kind picture frames of all sizes. His photography was a vast array of photos, which includes rodeos, weddings, landscapes, high school sports events, and much more. His pictures and frames can be seen on display at the Gallery at Autrys. He had been in Southern California after performing in Inglewood on Friday at the Forum.South Gate resident Ulises Monasalvo was there for the singer’s final performance.“It was a great show. He was amazing,” Monasalvo said as he stood along Hollywood Boulevard. “I grew up listening to him because of my mom.”Gabriel’s cause of death has not yet been officially determined, according to John Kades of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Kades said because of Gabriel’s medical history, no autopsy would be required.Soon after word got out Monday that the music icon’s body had been taken to Malinow and Silverman Mortuary in Westchester, dozens of fans descended on the sidewalk to pay their respects.One fan hired a mariachi band to perform. The group fittingly started with Gabriel’s hit “Amor Eterno,” a classic often played at funerals, especially those of mothers.
