Monday, March 06, 2017Regina Agnes Davis (Jeannie) died, at age 97, on February 16, 2017, at her son and daughter-in-law’s home in Everett, Wash.She was born December 13, 1919, on a farm near Montrose, S.D., to George and Elizabeth Gordon. Along with her three brothers and three sisters, she grew up on the family farm, attended local schools, and went on to Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls, S.D.Jeannie was married to Parker Davis whom she met while working at the Sioux Falls Stockyards. Parker was employed by Armour and Company as a livestock buyer. They were engaged on Valentine’s Day 1941 and married on July 3, 1941. Soon after, Parker was offered an opportunity work at the Butte Public Stockyards and so they relocated to Butte in March of 1942. Except for a brief one-year period, Jeannie, resided in Butte for the next 71 years.Together she and Parker became small business owners of the Leggat Hotel Bar, the Chuckwagon Drive-in Bar and Restaurant, and three other businesses. Jeannie was no stranger to hard work. After her husband’s death in 1960, she continued to operate the Donna Belle Drive-in and assist her brother and sister-in-law, George (Bud) and Eileen Go...
