Monday, June 26, 2017Sunday, June 18, 2017 in Orlando, FL.Stan was born February 23, 1954 in West Plains, MO. a son of Delbert Eugene “Gene” and Maggie Belle (Smith) Newton. He was married on March 3, 1972 in Springfield, MO. to Sara Strong and from this marriage his two children were born, Aaron and Courtney. Sara and he remained friends to this day. He was a 1972 graduate of Jefferson City High School and had many lifelong friends through his class. Stan was employed in the energy sector his entire professional career, which spanned over 40 years. He was currently employed as a Senior Originator with Westar Energy, based out of Topeka, Kansas, but he traveled the country working with clients. Before his career with Westar, he had worked with Missouri Power and Light (while living in Jefferson City and Moberly), Associated Electric (while living in Springfield), and Cargill (while living in Madison, Wisconsin and Minneapolis, Minnesota). Stan was a man of faith who attended church throughout his life and was a faithful supporter of Alabaster Ministries. Those around him were a witness to his constant nurturing love and faith.Stan had a deep love for his family and always cherished time with them. Monday, June 19, 2017Main, who died Dec. 21, 2016.Mrs. Main attended a one-room schoolhouse on Crouse Mill Road. She was employed with the Elmer Wolfe School and Francis Scott Key High School cafeterias, and retired from Springfield Hospital, Sykesville, in 1966. She was a Sunday school teacher for the Union Bridge United Methodist Church. In 1969, she and her husband Bill moved to Florida and resided there for 30 years, where she was very active with Conway United Methodist Church, Orlando, and volunteered at an elementary school, where she enjoyed working with children. She and Bill then moved to Felton, where she was a member of Sandtown Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed flowers, crafting and making Christmas ornaments, calendars and quilts. Although distance kept them apart, she always enjoyed hearing about the activities of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.A loving Mom, Granny, Great-Granny and Great-Great-Granny, she is survived by daughters, Audrey L. McDaniel (Bobby) of Damascus, Md., Patricia A. Blacksten (Dick) of Denton, Md.; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Hann of West Palm Beach, Fla.; stepdaughter, Beverly Metcalf of Alaska; stepson, Caroll Main (Kathy) of Felton; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Nina U. Martin of Sykesville; and several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by a son, Hayden M. Hann Jr. on Nov. 24, 2016; a great-grandson, Tristen Monroe; a great-great-granddaughter, Alaina Elizabeth; seven sisters; and three brothers.Through her illness, she had loving and devoted care from caregivers in her home, hospice and nursing...

She was a graduate of Champion High School and continued her education at Evangel College in Springfield, Mo. Amanda was a sales associate with Payless Shoe Store for over 15 years. She was a member of the Victory Christian Center Warren Campus and loved the Lord. Amanda was caring and loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed shopping, taking pictures, dancing and family vacations, but most of all spending time with her daughter, Adrielle. Amanda will be deeply missed by her husband, Colin Danks and their daughter, Adrielle Danks of Warren; father Michael Jilg of Champion; mother Phyllis (Cordle) Jilg of Warren; three sisters, Stephanie (Dennis) Madorma of Cortland, Heidi (Josh) Dingus of Champion, and Sarah (Derek Bodo) Jilg of Austintown; maternal grandparents, Lacie (Patricia) Cordle of Newton Falls; paternal grandfather, Donald Jilg of Champion; mother-in-law and father-in-law Susan and Paul Danks of Austintown; aunt Gayle (Gene) Noark of Champion; and several additional aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Saturday, June 10, 2017WILBRAHAM - The funeral for Kevin Burnham, the retired Springfield Police Detective who died in an apparent suicide Monday following an investigation into his alleged larcenies from the city evidence room, will be held Friday in Wilbraham.Burnham--who served for over 40 years with the Springfield Police Department, and retired in 2014--was initially indicted in January of 2016, after a review of the city's evidence room showed that hundreds of thousands of dollars had been stolen under his watch. A case brought by state attorney general Maura Healey's office would eventually allege that Burnham had stolen approximately $400,000 over the course of approximately four years. Burnham's death followed a slew of postponements for his upcoming trial; initially scheduled to occur in October of 2016, the trial date was pushed back numerous times.On Monday, after failing to appear for a scheduled hearing where he was expected to plead guilty to the charges against him, a Hampden Superior Court judge issued a warrant for Burnham's arrest. Washington Funeral Home could close after a monthlong suspension for what a state agency called unprofessional conduct and misleading the public by using false or deceptive advertising.The state board of embalmers and funeral directors suspended the funeral home and former funeral director Dean Washington for January.Signage and advertisements for the home did not establish that the owner, Tammy Qualls, was not licensed, said Jennifer Baugess, administrative assistant in compliance for the board. Other advertisements and Facebook also listed Qualls’ husband, former funeral director Jim Qualls, as an owner, when he is not, according to the original complaint in August 2010.Baugess said the several-month period between the complaint and the penalty was normal processing time.Since opening in early 2011, the home on 1530 S.
