Tuesday, April 18, 2017Mose Lazore, known to many as “Doc”, 57, of 274 Snye School Road, Snye, unexpectedly passed away early Saturday morning, April 15, 2017 at Massena Memorial Hospital.Doc was born August 4, 1959 in Cornwall, the son of the late Mose and Bertha (Sunday) Lazore. He attended schools on the Reservation and General Vanier in Cornwall. On December 17, 1984, he married Naomi Jacobs at St. Regis Catholic Church. Doc was a self-employed auto mechanic. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, car racing, and spending time with his grandchildren. Doc is survived by his wife, Naomi; his children, Nathan Lazore, April Lazore (Lance Crouse), and Oren Lazore (Katelynn Thompson), all of Akwesasne; his grandchildren, Lenny, Aria, Gabrielle, Peyton, Travis, and Julie; his sister, Elaine Lazore of Akwesasne; his brothers, Ronnie and Pauline Lazore of Akwesasne, Gary and Paris Lazore of Washington; and Wayne and Brad Lazore of Akwesasne; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Elmie and James Jacobs.Friends may call at the Akwesasne Homemakers, beginning 12:00 (Noon) Thursday until 9:00 AM Friday. Monday, February 27, 2017Alfred Watson, of Perkasie, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017, at his residence. He was 85.He was the beloved husband of the late T. Dianne (Kern) Watson, who died in 2003.Born in Cornwall (Lebanon County), he was the son of the late John J. and Clara (Marinchin) Watson.Mr. Watson had been employed as a plant manager at the former Landis Meat Company, Quakertown. Prior to that, he had also worked at the former Charles J. Fehl Meat Packing Company, Blooming Glen, as a mechanic at North Penn Transfer, Lansdale, and as a parts driver for NAPA, in both Perkasie and Quakertown.A member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Hilltown, Mr. Watson had previously attended Peace Lutheran Church, Hagersville.A hard worker, Al had loved spending his free time with family and friends.Mr. Watson is survived by his children, A David Watson, Jr. of Sellersville; Deborah A. Fields, 69, went off the road and hit a tree.Fields was transported to Porter Hospital in Middlebury where he was pronounced dead.Scott Waterman, spokesman for the Vermont State Police, said he had not heard reports of any significant statewide problems as of Thursday afternoon. He said troopers reported about five slide-offs between Burlington and Berlin on Interstate 89, but that there were no major back-ups.The Vermont Department of Transportation planned to have a full shift of trucks on the state’s roads until 10 p.m. Thursday night, when the fleet would be reduced to night patrol. Monday, December 26, 2016Mary “Mae” Thompson, of 41 Recreation Road, Akwesasne, peacefully passed away at her home early Thursday morning, December 22, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.Mae was born October 19, 1913 on Cornwall Island, daughter of the late Mitchell and Christie Mitchell Phillips. She attended schools on Cornwall Island and married Michael B. Thompson, who predeceased her on March 4, 1995.Mae was a communicant of the St. Regis Catholic Church and a member of the Kateri Circle, a member of the Akwesasne Death Benefits Group, the Tri-District Elders, and a former member of the St. Regis Mohawk Senior Citizens. She used to enjoy travelling with her late daughter to the Kateri Conferences.She was a homemaker and cleaned for Canadian Customs for a time. She was also basket maker, made lacrosse sticks, and enjoyed quilting, cooking, playing cards and Bingo. She loved family gatherings, watching lacrosse and hockey games, and listening to music, especially The Thundertones; and visits to the cottage on Pillon Island.
