Tobin, 95, died at her home in Rocky Hill, Conn., on Monday, Dec. 19, 2016.Born in Exeter, Maine, July 15, 1921, she was the daughter of Earl Young and Marjorie (Crowell) Young. She graduated high school in Milo, Maine, and later moved with her husband, Robert, to New Britain, Conn., where they raised three children: Linda, James, and Janet. Marian and Robert settled in Rocky Hill following retirement. They were extremely proud that they had been married nearly 70 years when Robert passed away in 2012. Marian loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She was generous of spirit, always putting the needs and concerns of her loved ones before her own. She and Robert worked hard and sacrificed so that their children had opportunities that they did not. Marian was a devoted wife and a loving, wise mother, as well as a caring daughter and sister. She took great pride in caring for her family and enjoyed baking, sewing, tailoring, gardening, and traveling with Robert once retired.She is...

She attended school in Hollywood, Ala., and worked as a nurse at the Rocky Hill Veterans Home and Hospital, retiring after 33 years of service in 1996. She was member of Progressive Community Baptist Church and served on several ministries.Betty is survived by her children, Mitchell Daniels of Bloomfield; Beverly Daniel of Pasadena, Calif.; Abdul Marzuq (Melvin Daniels) of Bloomfield; Antoinette Corbin and her husband, Davidson Corbin, of Windsor, Conn. Survived by her sister, Wilhelmina Winfrey of New Britain, Conn.; her grandchildren, Oronde’ Moore, Maurice Daniels and Mark Gooden along with eight great-grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Jay Jackson; her three sisters, Christine Ward, Rosie Boddie and Jo-Anne Priester and her brother, Leon Peavy Sr. Homegoing Celebration for Betty will be held Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Progressive Community Baptist Church, 45 Acton St., Hartford, Conn., with the Dr. R.
