Born in Milford on May 27, 1960, he was the son of the late Frank and Victoria B. Johnson.Tom was a graduate of Foran High School and Johnson and Wales University, with a degree in Culinary Arts. He was a longtime employee of the West Haven Board of Education and a devoted fan of the New York Mets and Minnesota Vikings.A loyal friend, he was always willing to help someone in need. Fondly known as “Uncle T”, Tom adored his nieces. He had a special love for his family, rock music, and sports, which led him to become an avid reader and collector of sports and rock memorabilia.Tom was the beloved brother of Victoria-Jo (Joseph) Iuteri, Donna (Jack) Buckley, and Frank (Lynne) Johnson; loving uncle to Jennifer (Kevin Bowerman) Iuteri, Lindsay, Shannon and Jamie Buckley, and Monica, Holly and Corinne Johnson. David was predeceased by his parents Jeremiah and Jane Crowley and his in-laws Louis and Ginger Abate. David didn’t have step children; every one of them were loved as if they were his own. He leaves behind 10 of them whom he adored more than life; David (Tammi) Cantalini of Thomaston, Tracy (Ed) Crowley of Florida, Louis (Sarah) Guida of New York, Rachael (Kurt) Scaranuzzo of Milford, Kathleen Crowley and Daniel Crowley of Oxford, Christopher (Shannon) Guida, Stacey Crowley, Matthew Crowley, and Nicholas Crowley of West Haven. The couple lived in Huron before moving to West Haven, Connecticut in 1945, to search for employment after World War II. In 1954, the Tillmans returned to Huron to be closer to their family. She enjoyed reading, painting, mowing the lawn and gardening.She is survived by her son, William L. (Teresa) Tillman of Richmond, Va.; daughter, Jerry Tillman of Huron; three grandchildren, Lee (Tiffany) Tillman of Boerne, Texas, Corie (Dan) Wolf of Richmond, Va., and Andrew G. Tillman? of Bloomington, Minn.; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jeanne Bauder of Huron.She is preceded in death by her husband, Byron December 26, 1987; four brothers, William F. Smith, Jr., John C. Monday, January 09, 2017WEST HAVEN >> As she headed downstairs on her way to work one morning in late May, Joy Meyerholz was surprised to find the light on in the living room, where her son, A.J., and his ex-girlfriend appeared to be asleep.She had seen him sleep like this before, slumped on the floor with his head resting on the couch. But it was strange to see his ex-girlfriend, who had moved out months ago, draped on top of a chair in the corner of the room.Glancing over at her son, who was 20, Meyerholz saw his shirt slightly raised, revealing what appeared to be blotches on his back, she said.
