Samantha Jo. “Sam” McDonald, 23, of Windsor Locks passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Samantha was born September 7, 1993, in Hartford, and attended local schools in Granby and was a graduate of Granby Memorial High School Class of 2011. She was attending the University of Connecticut pursuing her Bachelors in Human Development and Family Services with a minor in Urban Studies. Sam was employed at Homewood Suites in Windsor Locks. She enjoyed knitting, reading, sudoko puzzles, fishing and hiking with family and friends. Samantha will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her mother, Debra (Bonfiglio) McDonald and her fiancé, Tony Brown of Enfield; her father, John McDonald, Jr. and Eunice Johnson of Barkhamsted; her sister, Karly McDonald of Windsor Locks; her brother, John McDonald, III of Barkhamsted; her paternal grandfather, John McDonald, Sr. of Barkhamsted; her boyfriend, Casey Perry of Windsor Locks; her aunts, Cindy Good and her husband, Steve, Geri Montgomery and h...

Bloomfield, CT where she organized the first field run administration of the Salk Polio vaccine to Bloomfield school children. After completing her education, Sue became the Director of Guidance in Windsor Locks, CT and Director of Special services in East Granby, CT. She organized and sponsored Future Nurses Clubs in all three of these towns. Upon retirement, she completed ten Elder Hostels, went on ten cruises, and traveled to visit her son and his family overseas. Each year, Sue and her husband spent four months in Cape Cod and eight months in Florida. In Englewood, she volunteered for fifteen years at Englewood Hospital and served on the Board of Directors for the Englewood Beach Association, as well as being treasurer and president for the Women’s Association. She attended Englewood Methodist Church in Florida and Waquoit Congregational Church in Mashpee, MA. In 2007, she moved to Brandon Oaks Assisted Living in Roanoke, VA to be near the Cook family.Sue is predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Richard Baldauf; and son, Richard Baldauf, Jr.. She leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Christina Baldauf of Buderim, Australia; daughters, Nancy Cook and her husband, Richard of Salem, VA and Gail Borkowski and husband, Tim of York, ME; grandchildren, Pamelia Baldauf of Sydney, Australia, Ethan Cook and wife, Stephanie of Roanoke, VA, Ryan Cook of Roanoke, VA, Emily Cook and husband, John Burke of Providence, RI, Heather Bukowski and husband, Bob Hunter (children, Amy and Tim Hunter) of Powmill, Scotland, and Jesse Borkowski and Meredith Gulley of Boston, MA; three great-grandchildren, Cate and Clay Cook of Roanoke, VA and Sophie Baldauf Cooke of Sydney, Australia.
