WOLCOTT- Annie Laure Beadle, 86, passed away January 30, 2017, in Wolcott at the Wolcott View Manor nursing home after a long illness. She was born Betty Laurie in Concord, New Hampshire, on September 13, 1930, daughter of William Alan Laurie and Mary Morey Laurie.A graduate of Concord N.H. high school, she went on to further studies at the University of New Hampshire, Parsons School of Design in New York City and The University of California in San Diego.Annie was crowned Miss New Hampshire in 1950 – 1951 and represented the state in the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City. She was an accomplished violinist who briefly taught violin students in Concord, New Hampshire. Annie was also an artist and a prize-winning member of the Connecticut Pastel Society. She was a professional photographer and showed her work in galleries from coast to coast. Annie’s career was very diverse. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons; Gerhard W. Roland of Waterbury and Michael J. Roland of Naugatuck, two brothers, Charles Roland of Naugatuck and John Roland of Powell, WY. Mr. Roland was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph “Pepper” Roland and William Roland. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 170 Coen Street, Naugatuck. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
