Monday, June 26, 2017Church Point and Carol Malbrough of Church Point; two sons, Joseph Larry and wife, Charlene Malbrough of Church Point and Donald Ray, Sr. and wife Charlene Malbrough of Church Point; four brothers, Felton Malbrough, Rudolph Malbrough, Jr., Paul Malbrough and John Malbrough all of Lake Charles, La.; four sisters, Theresa Price of Houston, TX, Lois Johnwell of Lake Charles, Mildred Esprit of Gilis and Veronica Clues of Crosby, TX.; Eleven Grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; one step daughter, Isabella St. Andre of Lafayette; two step sons, Anthony Guillory of Westminister, CA and Murray and wife, Bertha Guillory of Church Point.; a host of step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Mr. Malbrough was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver Council 79. During his membership in the Council he served as the Grand Knight and Treasurer. He was also a member of the Cursillo, Our Mother of Mercy Church Parish Council, Usher Board at Our Mother of Mercy Church, Church Point Trail Riders where at one time he did server as the President and also was a member of the Southern Consumer Co-op. Mr. Malbrough was a bus driver for Acadia Parish School Board for twenty five years. He was the owner of Malbrough’s grocery store in Church Point and was a life long agriculture farmer in Acadia Parish. Keeney Hann Main, 93, of Felton, Del., and formerly of Union Bridge, Md., died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Seaford Center, following a lengthy illness.Born Aug. 13, 1923, in Carroll County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Ephriam Eli Keeney and Margaret Elizabeth Smith Keeney. Twice married, her first husband was Hayden M. Hann, who died Nov. 11, 1955; her second husband of 50 years was William R. Main, who died Dec. 21, 2016.Mrs. Main attended a one-room schoolhouse on Crouse Mill Road. She was employed with the Elmer Wolfe School and Francis Scott Key High School cafeterias, and retired from Springfield Hospital, Sykesville, in 1966. She was a Sunday school teacher for the Union Bridge United Methodist Church. In 1969, she and her husband Bill moved to Florida and resided there for 30 years, where she was very active with Conway United Methodist Church, Orlando, and volunteered at an elementary school, where she enjoyed working with children. Tuesday, April 18, 2017Mildred Kellow Cooper, was born April 20, 1945, in Des Moines. Soon after high school, Chuck joined the United States Army and honorably served his country.On Oct. 23, 1971, Chuck married Cynthia Ann Felton Cooper at New Virginia. Monday, August 29, 2016Go Ape courses are equipped with climbing harnesses and two sets of ropes with carabiners that they unclip and clip to safety wires in sequence as they move through the trees.Werner, 59, of Felton, had completed the required safety training, and was nearing the end of the course when she fell, said Jeff Davis, a spokesman for Go Ape. The attraction in Bear spans seven acres and includes four zip lines and a variety of swings, rope ladders, bridges and trapezes."Participant witnesses have stated that at the time of the accident the participant had unfortunately disconnected herself from the safety system," Davis said in an email.An inspection found that all of the course and associated safety equipment was in sound operating condition, and that "nothing was broken or unserviceable," Davis wrote.Late Thursday, state police said in a news release that an autopsy found that Werner died from "multiple blunt force trauma by way of an accident."Werner's daughter, Melissa Slater, described her mom as "super fun," and "adventurous."
