Monday, April 03, 2017Preceding him in death are his parents Melvin and Helen (Hanna) Day, his wife Joann, one brother and one sister.Paul worked for Caterpillar for 32 years as an inspector. He also worked at Lakeland Park in Canton and was on the underwater demolition team as a frog man. Paul was a veteran of the United States Navy.Services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1995 North Main Street, Canton, IL. Rev. Rick Atchley will officiate. Burial will follow the services at White Chapel Cemetery in Canton. A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the funeral home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home.He was born in Brunswick, Ga. and was raised in Lakeland where he graduated from Kathleen Senior High School. It is there that he met his wife, Brenda Whitfield, and married her on Aug. 20, 1970. He worked as a salesman for Miller Brewing Company in Lakeland. Upon retirement he moved to Lee in 1983 where he worked and retired from Dixie Packers. He had lived in Jennings since 2004. He loved to fish.He is survived by his wife, Brenda Dian Walker of Jennings; two sons, Tonney D. Walker (Retha) of Jennings and Jamey L Walker of Gainesville, Ga.; three daughters: Linda D. McMullen (Edwin) of Lee, Kelly Walker-Crosby (Nathan) of Statenville, Ga., and Lori M. Blackman (Robert) of Caryville, Tn.; nine grandchildren: Amanda Willoughby (Anthony) of Greenville, Bryan McMullen and Christopher McMullen (Miranda) both of Lee, A. J. Monday, February 27, 2017David Maxwell Miller, 87, of Plant City, died Feb. 5, 2017, at Lakeland Regional Health. He was born June 30, 1929, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, to Max and Maynie Miller. He grew up in Benton, Mississippi, where he graduated from Anding High School in 1947. He married his first wife, Catherine, and began farming. He later worked at Mississippi Chemical for 10 years, and then at CF Industries for 31 years with assignments in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Tampa and Bartow. He retired in 1998. His professional success was accompanied by a remarkable commitment to Plant City’s welfare. His service and generosity to his community improved the quality of life for everyone and will leave a positive imprint for many years to come. He served on several boards and committees with an expertise in fundraising and civic projects, including First Presbyterian Church of Plant City, the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce, Plant City Rotary Club, Greater Tampa YMCA, South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation, Hillsborough Community College and the Florida Strawberry...
Monday, February 20, 2017Minnesota where he killed himself Sunday in his wrecked car.Killed in the violent outburst were Charlene Wold, 49, who operated Spots Professional Pet Grooming in Lakeland, Minn., and her 28-year-old son, Logan T. Reese, the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office said Sunday.In a statement, the Sheriff's Office described the confrontation as a "violent domestic dispute" but offered no explanation."This is a very complex case, [and] we should have more details on the incident in the next couple of days," said Sheriff's Capt. Jeff Klatt. "Our hearts go out to the family in this case."According to the Sheriff's Office:The incident began shortly after 11:30 p.m. Saturday in Hudson Township. Deputies were alerted that Reese had stabbed Wold and beaten another family member with a stick at Wold's home in the 700 block of N. Meadow Drive.Other family members sought shelter in the garage. Reese fled the home in a car. Wold was declared dead at the scene.About 12:45 a.m. Sunday, deputies were heading to Reese's residence 30 or so miles to the east in Glenwood City when a caller to 911 said the suspect's apartment was on fire.Reese's car was spotted about 1:15 a.m. about 13 miles southwest of the apartment on Hwy. 12 in Woodville, where a police officer star...
