A native of Sanford, Florida, Vicki graduated from Seminole High School in 1966 before earning undergraduate (UWF) and graduate (USF) degrees in education. She met her soul mate in 1971 while she was learning to teach at Booker T. Washington Senior High School and he was learning to fly helicopters at NAS Pensacola. Vicki and Lex married in 1972 and a wonderful life together ensued. Vicki's first son was born in 1974 at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, California. Vicki and Lex returned to Florida in 1979, adopted a second son, and settled into family life in Dothan, Alabama in 1987. Vicki was a teacher's teacher. She taught history, economics, social studies and other subjects at Northview High School from 1987 until 2003. Vicki was respected, loved and taken seriously by her students. The Alabama Council on Economic Education recognized Vicki's many talents by naming her Alabama's Economics Teacher of the Year in 1991. Following a bought with cancer, Vicki took a medical retirement in 2003, but she remained very active for the next thirteen years.
