Monday, December 12, 2016Eugene L Malise of Greenwich, Connecticut and Raymond M. Malice of Burlington, New Jersey. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Donald E. Carnes, her son, Judge Steven L. Carnes of Tallahassee, Florida, and her two granddaughters, Dr. Lee Ann Annotti and Alexandra Carnes.Mrs. Carnes attended the Maryland College for Women before transferring to the University of Alabama where she graduated in 1950 with a degree in education. She was a member of Delta Zeta sorority. She subsequently earned a Master’s Degree in psychology from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she graduated first in her class. She earned 65 graduate credits towards a PhD at the University of Pennsylvania.Mrs. Carnes began teaching in the Chattanooga School District in 1950. She and her family moved to Bucks County Pennsylvania in 1958, and she began teaching English and history in the Pennsbury School District in Falls Township, Pennsylvania. After attaining her Master’s Degree, she became employed as a guidance counselor in the Bensalem School District, Bensalem Township, Pennsylvania. She retired in 1986.She and her husband were active in the Masonic Order and Eastern Star. She twice served as Worthy Matron of her local chapter, and in 1977 served as a Grand Officer in New Jersey as Fraternal Correspondent. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and cross stitching. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.She was the daughter of the late James Ansel and Blanche Corbett Byrd.
