Monday, September 05, 2016John “Shorty” Boyer, age 84, of Acworth, GA, went to be with the Lord and his wife, Wednesday, August 31, 2016. He married Margretta Wells in 1955, and loved her until the day he passed, their love is still strong as they are side by side in heaven. He was a kind and gentle man who loved his dogs, his family and friends and was loved by them in return. John served in the Navy during the Korean War, and was a long time coach at Kingsport Boys Club. He was a loyal VOLS fan and will be cheering all the teams, especially the football team, from above.Mr. Boyer is survived by his daughter, Pamela Range and husband Jeff of Johnson City, TN; son, John M.
