Monday, March 27, 2017St. Mary’s Cemetery.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 23rd from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mr. Wade passed away on Sunday, March 19th at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.Brian was born on February 3, 1937 in Saratoga, NY, a son of Walter & Margaret (Wolstenholme) Wade. He graduated from Massena High School in 1955, where he was the quarterback of the football team that was undefeated during his years there. He continued his studies at Ithaca College on a football scholarship, majoring in physical education. He married Kathleen Warren of Guildford, CT on July 5, 1958. Upon graduation from Ithaca in 1959, he returned to teach and coach at Massena School District for a few years and later moved to Newington, CT where he coached football for Loomis Preparatory School. In1968, he was recruited by Alton “Slim” Elliott, who was the OFA athletic director at the time. Brian and Kathy relocated back to Ogdensburg where he started his career at Ogdensburg Free Academy coaching football, including several Section 10 championship teams until his retirement in 1994. Receiving of friends, 11 a.m. to noon, funeral following at noon. Pastor Derrick Hammond, officiating. Interment will immediately follow the funeral at Oak Ridge Memorial Park, where a white dove release will conclude the service.
