Jay was a carefree man who loved to cut the fool and have fun with his friends and family. Club and the Calhoun Elkettes, where she held every board and committee position including president. She, along with her husband, was a huge advocate and supporter of Aidmore Children’s Center in Conyers, which is supported by many Georgia Elks Lodges. She and David were involved with the Calhoun High Marching Band Boosters Club, where they served as co-presidents in the early 70’s. She was a member of the Calhoun First Baptist Church.Mawmaw, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was a devoted wife, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Flowers said he coached Givens when he was a football player at Norfolk State University. After that, Givens volunteered to coach youth football with Flowers in Huntersville. Andrei Moy Sum Tung Conyers said Givens was cooperative and restrained when he studied kung fu. Hegwood said he was always walking the street, talking with people, giving them sound advice about being safe.Circuit Judge Everett Martin gave him a $75,000 bond on July 6. Givens had not posted it as of Thursday and shuffled out of the courtroom in shackles and a jumpsuit from the Hampton Roads Regional Jail.
