Monday, November 21, 2016Memorial services have been set for Patrick Thomas Carothers, the dedicated U.S. Marshal shot and killed by a fugitive Friday in southeast Georgia.Carothers, 53, lived in Flowery Branch and his five children attend or attended Greater Atlanta Christian School in Gwinnett County. His wife of 30 years, Terry, also works at the school, according to media reports.His family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday inside the Long Forum at GAC, 1575 Indian Trail Road in Norcross.Carothers will be buried Nov. 29 in Luray, Virginia, where he attended high school."The GAC family mourns the loss of one of our finest, U.S. Marshal Patrick Carothers," the school wrote on Facebook on Friday. "Please be in prayer for this precious family during this difficult time."In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Patrick Carothers' honor may be made to the U. S. Monday, November 21, 2016Patrick Thomas Carothers NORCROSS, Ga. -- Funeral arrangements have been set for a U.S. Marshal killed in the line of duty in Georgia.U.S. Marshal Patrick Carothers, 53, of Flowery Branch, Ga.,was part of a team serving an arrest warrant for Dontrell Montrese Carter at the Spring Creek Mobile Home Park in Long County Friday when authorities said Carter opened fire.Carothers was struck twice. The team returned fire, killing Carter.Carter was wanted for attempted murder of police officers, domestic violence and unlawfully discharging a weapon in September in Sumter County, S.C.Carothers leaves behind a wife of 30 years and five children. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26 at The Long Forum of Greater Atlanta Christian School in Norcross, Ga. Interment will take place on Nov. 29 at Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray, Va. The family will receive friends on Nov. 25 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford, Ga.
