Monday, June 26, 2017Lorene Terry and her husband Al; her sons, Richard Swiderski and his wife Sandra and Roger Swiderski and his wife Leslie; her brother, Raymond Magas; her sisters, Jane LeBlanc, Elaine Tedesco and Helena Alegi and her husband John; her grandchildren, Al Terry, Jr., Michael Terry, Kate Jefferson, Matt Terry and Carrie Swiderski; her great grandchildren, Dylan, Julia, Alaina, Olivia, Freya and Thor; her sisters in law, Helen Magas and Eleanor Magas and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, Betty was predeceased by her brothers, Edward, Michael and Leo Magas. The family would like to sincerely thank everyone at Middlebury Convalescent Home for the exceptional care that they provided.A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 10:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Everyone attending is kindly asked to go directly to church. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Friday, June 2, 2017 from 5-7pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. Mobrice and his wife Helena of Cumberland, Rhode Island; two great nephews, Zack and Tyler Mobrice of Cumberland, Rhode Island.; a great niece, Alicia Cohelo and her husband Tony of Attleboro, Ma. and their children, Landen and Logan, of the home; and one uncle, Bob Filippone of West Palm Beach, Florida.He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul R. Saturday, June 10, 2017Ottilo Frances Krause Buchholtz, 93, of Gonzales, was born April 28, 1924 in Gonzales to Otto Krause and Helena Gertrude DeJardo Krause. Frances married Herman Fred “BeBe” Buchholtz on August 13, 1943 in Gonzales. She was a member of the Gonzales First Lutheran Church and had served as vice-president of the Travis State School.Frances grew up in Gonzales and frequently moved with her family wherever her father could find work as a share cropper. Hardships flourished in those early days of her youth, the great depression weighed heavily on the backs of the entire nation, farmers had to work extra hard to scratch out a living as waves of dust choked their crops. Certainly, these were trying times, but for Frances these were times that built character, unwavering determination and a tremendous appreciation for family. Frances worked for the Gonzales Cotton Mill until it closed down and then she traveled every work day to New Braunfels where she worked at the New Braunfels Cotton Mill. Carroll, Bishop of Helena,” the raised lettering reads. “Donated By Rt. Rev. Victor Day, V.G.”Within this somewhat cryptic dedication lies the origins of a church, a community and the early history of Catholicism in central Montana.Many may be familiar with John Patrick Carroll, the second bishop of the Diocese of Helena. Carroll is remembered today as the driving force behind construction of the Cathedral of St. Helena and foundation of the first Catholic college in Montana, an institution which now bears his name; Carroll College.Fewer people are aware of the role played by the Right Rev. She is preceded in death by her grandparents and her brother, William Lee Tomlin.
