Clara passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the Wisner Care Center.Clara Violet Lierman was born on January 20, 1943 in Modale, IA to Merrill and Lena (Brown) McDonough. She graduated from North High School in Geneva, NE. She went on to attend Kearney State College and Western Iowa Community College in Sioux City, IA. Clara worked at Sioux City Foundry.On August 10, 1979, she married Dennis Lierman in Elk Point, SD. In 1983, they moved to Beemer, NE, where Clara operated the Beemer Café for a few years.Clara was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Beemer Optimists and West Point Crime Stoppers. Betty SuggsMrs. Betty Koonce Suggs, 79, of McDonough, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at her home.Mrs. Suggs was born July 19, 1937, in Walker County, daughter of the late Cecil and Trudy Ramey Koonce. Before making her home in McDonough in 2004, she lived in Calhoun for more than 30 years, where she owned and operated several restaurants. She was Baptist by faith, loved to cook and enjoyed listening to gospel music and playing bingo.Survivors include her daughters, Esther Bolt and her husband, Johnny, of Five Points, Ala., Tammy Johnston and her husband, Thyrone, of McDonough; sons, Robert Earl Stitcher of LaGrange, Homer Buford Stitcher, Jr. of McDonough; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Homer Buford Stitcher, Sr. and Sam Suggs; brothers, Lewis Koonce and Johnny Koonce; sister, Janelle Yarbrough; and great-grandchild, Skyler Ian McKeen.The funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12, at Northside Baptist Church in LaGr...
