Brandon Cavanaugh BAY CITY, MI -- Gov. Rick Snyder is asking all flags be lowered to half-staff on all state buildings tomorrow, Friday, April 21, in remembrance of a National Guard sergeant who died last week.Brandon Cavanaugh of Farmington Hills, and formerly Bay City, died unexpectedly last week on Thursday, April 13, according to an obituary. He was 33 years old.Cavanaugh served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2004-2009 and completed two tours of duty in Iraq in 2006 and 2009. He completed his Master's Degree in intelligence analysis from Michigan State University in 2010. Before that, he attended Park University and Northwood University. He's a 2002 graduate of Vassar High School.Cavanaugh joined the Michigan National Guard with a goal of becoming a commissioning officer in the military.He is survived by his wife, Amy, two daughters, Brandy and Abry, and mother and father, Patrick and Michelle. A funeral service is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, April 22, at Holy Trinity Church, 1008 S.
