WENTWORTH, N.C. — A man accused of attempting to kill his father saw his case continued into the new year in Rockingham County Superior Court.Garcia Fenwick Johnson, 46, of 110 Lawsonville Ave. in Reidsville, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, common law forgery, and taking an acknowledgement or verification or a proof or administers an oath known to be false as a notary.Johnson is accused of shooting his father, James Johnson, on July 24, 2015, at the family funeral home of Johnson & Son Funeral Home, at 115 Holderby St. in Reidsville. Other employees were there at the time of the shooting and called 911.James Johnson survived the shooting. Garcia Johnson is free on $200,000 bail.Garcia Johnson’s case was continued to Jan. 3.He was indicted in May after police said he fled the funeral home after the shooting. He turned himself into Reidsville Police later that evening.Court documents detail the events before James Johnson was shot, including bank activity witnesses said seemed suspicious and Garcia Johnson’s acquisition of a weapon.Documents state that James Johnson left the daily operation of the Reidsville funeral h...
