Monday, March 06, 2017James Carman Wright, 74 of Smyrna, GA (and formerly Oakdale, GA) passed away peacefully in the early hours of Saturday, March 4, 2017, with his wife and children by his side. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Jones Wright, parents, Helen Hanson Wright and Robert Carman Wright, paternal grandparents Robert Luther Wright and Ruth Nance Wright, maternal grandparents Brumby Hill Hanson and Curtis Edwards Hanson. Carman is survived by his wife, Judy Wright, children Allison Warren (David), Erika Sams (Jason), Heather Andersen (Andy), Robert Wright, Sara Whaley, eight grandchildren who were dearly loved by Granddaddy, Claire Warren, Katharine Warren, Anna Warren, Gus Warren, Lily Sams, Charlotte, Sams, Finley Sams, Will Andersen, sisters Harriet Atkins (Gene), and Selena Wingard (Jerry), and brother Hanson Wright (Sheryl), aunt Jeanette Taylor (Jerry), and many special cousins, nieces and nephews. Blair of Tyrone passed away February 25, 2017.She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Howard Blair of Tyrone; daughters, Mary Alice Blair of Smyrna; Bonnie Toro and her husband Warren of Fayetteville; grandsons, Adam Hagy; Brandon Toro; Drew Toro and many nieces and nephews.Funeral services were held Monday, February 27, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. Interment followed at Sharon Memorial Gardens. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna on Thursday, Feb. 2, Carney said he had traveled throughout the state and everyone he met expressed their condolences.“He went to work every day knowing that he had a very difficult and dangerous job to do,” the governor said. “And he did it so well and he did it with a smile and he did it with courage.”Carney said the crowd on the Circle was evidence that the entire state has been affected by Floyd’s death.“We will get through this, but it will not be easy,” he said.Geoffrey Klopp, president of the Correctional Officers Association of Delaware, recalled Floyd’s mischievous smile.“You always knew he was up to something when you saw that smile,” Klopp said.Georgetown Mayor Bill West, who organized the memorial service, called it “a day of sadness,” as he was joined by state Sen.
