He was predeceased by a brother, Clarence Abrams.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2017 at Ware Shoals First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Wayne Wicker, Rev. John T. Abrams, Jr., and Rev. George Leagans officiating. A family graveside service will be held at Dothan Cemetery in Dillon County, SC on a later date.Sarah FosterSarah Bertha Tucker Foster, 84, died on June 5, 2017 at her residence in the Plantersville community of Georgetown, South Carolina. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017 at New Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in the Benevenum community, conducted by Reverend Willie Bell Thomas, pastor.Mrs. Foster was born on January 7, 1933 in Georgetown, SC, to Mr. Willie Tucker and Mrs. Hattie Gilliard Tucker, the oldest of eleven children. She was educated in the public schools of Georgetown County. Mrs. Foster later resided in Brooklyn, New York, where she was employed for many years with Victoria Packing Company. Following retirement, in 2004 she returned to Georgetown and reestablished her membership at New Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church.Mrs. Foster is survived by her daughters, Margaret Drayton, Georgetown, SC and Renell Grant, Columbia, MD; her siblings, Hattie Tucker, Georgetown, SC, Ernest Tucker of Nashville, NC, Samuel Tucker, Jamaica, NY, Jacob Tucker and Willie Tucker, both of Brooklyn, NY, Hopie Cassell and Robert Tucker, both of Bronx, NY. Funeral services are entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.Franklin HealanFranklin Healan, 94, widower of Dessie “Pat” Healan, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Prince George Nursing Facility.A funeral service, officiated by Dr. Ted Sherrill, was held at 2 PM, Friday, June 2, 2017 in First Baptist Church of Georgetown. The family received friends inside the church from 1-2 PM, prior to the service on Friday. Interment was in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.Born August 23, 1922 in Wayne County Georgia, he was a son of the late Benjamin F. Healan and Minnie Lee Hightower Healan.Mr. Healan was a World War II veteran of the United States Army, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. He retired as a maintenance supervisor in 1984 from International Paper after 37 ½ years of service. Mr. Healan was a member of First Baptist of Georgetown and the Spirit of Liberty Sunday School Class. Saturday, April 08, 2017Jean M. Van Pelt, 66 of Oceanport, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. Born in Sparta, she had lived in Long Branch before moving to Oceanport in 1992. Jean was a secretary for the Long Branch Board of Education for 24 years before retiring in 2015. She was a parishioner of St. Michael’s R.C. Church in West End, Long Branch. She was predeceased by her parents, John and June Ronovitz. Surviving are her husband, Artie Van Pelt; her daughter, Catherine Van Pelt-Shok and her wife, Allison Shok; 2 sisters, Joanne Chattaway and Julie Andreasen; 2 sisters-in-law, Rosemarie Pingitore and Rabbine Harpell and many nieces and nephews Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 29 from 4-8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., (corner of Third Ave.) in Long Branch.
