Tuesday, April 18, 2017Col. Samuel M. Pierce, USA, Ret., age 87, a resident of Suffield Meadows in Warrenton, VA, passed away on March 19, 2017. He honorably served in the U.S. Army for over 26 years and retired as a Colonel. He is survived by his wife, Nancy F. Pierce; four children; Cyndy Pierce Burnett and husband, Robert P. of Rixeyville, VA, Kristin M. Beals and husband, William of Amissville, VA, Laura D. Pierce Nardo Kunst and husband, Lt. Col. Todd Kunst, USMC, Ret. of Swansboro, NC, and Jeffrey Scott Pierce and wife, Hilary of Warrenton, VA; 17 grandchildren and one great-grand-daughter.Funeral Service will be on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Warrenton Baptist Church, Warrenton, VA. Monday, March 06, 2017William Eric Fox, Jr., also known as Jay Fox was born on December 1, 1991 in Warrenton VA, and he passed away February 25, 2017 in Berryville VA. He is survived by his wife Amanda Keeler Fox; his daughter Annabelle Rose Fox; his mother Leslie I. Loveless; his father and stepmother William E. Fox Sr. and Peg Fry; his grandmother Shaaron Loveless; and his brothers Brandon Pahl, John Fox, Eric Fox and Corey Fox.Jay was a 2010 graduate of Clarke County High School, and he received his associateís degree in science from Lord Fairfax Community College in 2012. Jay was employed by Opequon Water Reclamation facility since July of 2013.Jay was shy as a young child but quickly evolved into a caring, easy going spirit who always was there to lend a helping hand. He loved helping his father on his River Edge Farm. He volunteered for the Leila Rose foundation which is dedicated to assisting families affected by childhood medical needs. Monday, February 06, 2017In 1947, she married Stanley Fridley and the couple made their home in the Moberly and Huntsville areas while raising their five children. In the late 1960’s they moved to Warrenton where Mr. Fridley was employed by the Norfolk and Western Railroad, and then to Union where he worked in real estate.After she raised her children, Ruth went to college. In 1972, Ruth received an associate arts degree at East Central Junior College in Union, and in 1984 she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, where she continued to live for 25 years after her husband’s death.Ruth loved music and sang in her church choir in nearly every place she made her home. She was especially active at the Zion United Church of Christ, Union, and later at Central United Church of Christ in Jefferson City. In her later years she taught at public schools in the Jefferson City area, performed in community theatre, and dabbled in the arts. She was proud of her “Master Toastmaster” award, which she received after being an active member of Toastmasters International for 25 years. Monday, January 16, 2017Wow, what a fantastic event!A hearty thanks to all who helped make our 2016 First Night Warrenton an incredible success this year: world class entertainment, great teamwork and generous sponsors worked together to bring the evening's attendance to more than 1,500, a great turnout for an exceptional community event.On a beautiful and crisp winter evening between 7 p.m. and midnight, Bluemont’s First Night Warrenton presented a wonderful variety of 29 performing groups and activities, totaling 49 performances at 17 toasty-warm indoor sites. At midnight, hundreds of friends and families gathered at the beautiful Fauquier County Courthouse for the Grand Illumination; a candle-lit sing-along with a dramatic countdown into the New Year as the Old Courthouse bell pealed out twelve times for good fortune for us all in 2017.
