Lynn, 89, died Thursday morning (June 8, 2017) at Waycross Health and Rehab following an extended illness.He was a native of Coffee, in Bacon County, but had made his home in Waycross for most of his life.He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Peggy June Steedley Lynn, on April 23, 2016. He was also preceded in death by his parents Barney Lincoln Lynn and Mary Etta Moody Lynn, and a brother Lewis Alexander Lynn.He was a long-time and faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, the Senior Men’s Sunday School class and had served on numerous church committees.He had served with the United States Army in Japan and was an avid fisherman, photographer, and loved woodworking, building cabinets and furniture.He retired as a machinist with the CSX Railroad after 43 years of service.Survivors include two sons, Ronny Lynn (wife Mary Ann), of Waycross, and Steven Lynn (wife Anitra), of Barney, four grandchildren, Ashley Strickland (husband Chris), of Jesup, Jamie Ray (husband Michael), of Waycross, Bryon Lynn (wife Tracy), of Thomasvil...
Monday, February 20, 2017James Leroy DavisPATTERSON — James Leroy “Stag” Davis, 73, of Patterson, passed Saturday (Feb. 11, 2017) at the Hospice House in Waycross.He was the son of the late Leroy Davis Sr. and the late Susie E. Davis. He was born in Patterson on Oct. 29, 1943.He was also preceded in death by his three siblings, Sarah Elizabeth Davis, Bettye Jean Davis Philpot and Annie Pearl Davis Maloy, and an uncle, Eugene Willis.He was a graduate of Lee Street High School, class of 1962. He was employed at Barnard Company for years until his health forced him to no longer be able to work.He was an avid lover of sports, huge Georgia Bulldog fan and an honorary coach of the Patterson Recreation Department. He coached and was a referee of football and softball games. He dedicated his time to sports and was a campaign manager for the local candidates, working at the polls diligently at elections.He was an active member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church until he went into the Pierce County Nursing Home. Monday, January 30, 2017Jan. 19, 2017) at his residence.“Camp” was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive brain tumor on July 3, 2016 after experiencing some mild health issues. Upon initial diagnosis of a tumor in Waycross, he was sent to Memphis, Tenn., for treatment.He completed several surgeries at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital, and was then treated for six months at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. During his stay in Memphis, he received several surgeries, procedures and chemotherapy treatments.On Dec. 31, 2016, Camp was released from St. Jude to come home and spend the remainder of his time surrounded by his family and loved ones. While at home, Camp was cared for by many amazing nurses and staff from Hospice Satilla in Waycross. He was loved on and supported by numerous friends, family and community members in Waycross.Giving up was never an option for Camp, until his last breath, he fought as fiercely as any warrior that has ever entered battle.
