Monday, January 30, 2017Mrs. Colvin, wife of the late Charles Kenneth Colvin, passed away at KershawHealth on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. Born in Lee County, she was the daughter of the late James McDuffie and Maude Huntley McGee. She was a faithful member of Shiloh Truelight Church of Christ. She volunteered at the Mill House and enjoyed cooking, gardening and flowers. Mrs. Colvin was a devoted mother and grandmother.Surviving are her children, Charles Colvin (Cheryl) of Camden, Wayne Colvin (Margaret) of Lugoff, Russell Colvin (Sandy) of Camden, Myron Colvin of Charlotte, Tony Colvin (Debbie) of Camden, Charlene Watford (Billy) of Cassatt, and Delores Chabot of Lugoff; sister, Martha Watson of Bishopville; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Johnson.He was a school teacher in the Avon, London Mills, and Dixon school districts for a combined 33 years. He and his wife Ida also managed the Dixon Dairy Queen from 1984 - 1989.Nate served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Bethel Evangelical Congregational Church in Dixon, American Legion Post 12, and Lee County Historical and Genealogical Society. He volunteered at K.S.B. Hospital and the Reagan Home. Jim married Janet Hedden Sept. 20, 1963, in Canton.She survives, along with a daughter, Kelly (Richard) Mierkowski of Urbana; and three sisters, Margaret Hartford of California, Joanne K. Battleshall of Phoenix and Beverly A. Butterworth of Cadillac, Mich.He was preceded in death by his parents.Jim retired from Pekin Life Insurance Company in 2003, where he worked as an underwriter. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Canton, Morning Star Lodge AF & AM in Canton and Canton Rotary Club; president of Travelers Protection Association; a member of the Canton Flying Club; a city councilman for 16 years; Republican precinct committeeman; and a member of the 40 & 8.
