Monday, June 26, 2017Eli Franklin, Gabe Franklin, Grace Franklin, Tori Vest, Ethan Vest, and Gavin Vest; and dear friends, Kim and Oscar Smith, Sharon and Lee Linkous, Jack Clifton and many others. Shari graduated from Montgomery High School in Montgomery, WV in 1968. She worked as a Treasurer’s Clerk for Roanoke County for many years as well as in the ticket office of the Salem Civic Center. Some of Shari’s favorite pastimes were quilting, spending time at Smith Mountain Lake, eating her Moose Track ice cream, and going to Mac And Bob’s every chance she could. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m until 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Sherwood Memorial Park’s Abbey. A graveside service to immediately follow. The family would like to extend a special thanks to John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home for their service during the family’s time of need. Monday, June 19, 2017Back to GalleryDetectives believe they've identified the man who attempted to kidnap a grieving woman at a cemetery near Magnolia on Friday.Although they would not release the man's name, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office detectives formulated a suspect late Monday afternoon, crediting citizens who called in tips and a second would-be victim who came forward about a similar Mother's Day encounter. During the Mother's Day incident, a separate woman felt uneasy during a conversation with the man as she, too, was visiting a late loved one – but this time it was at Klein Memorial Park on FM 2090 in downtown Tomball.In both incidents, the suspect showed the same MO: he would start up a conversation and proceed to get more aggressive. The Mother's Day victim was able to shy away from the conversation before it became too dire, instead snatching a photo of the suspect's red Ford F-150 as he drove away.Friday's victim was not as lucky.Friday's victim told investigators that she was attacked at the Klein Memorial Park Cemetery in the 32500 block of Texas 249 as she was visiting a loved one. The man, only known to the general public as "Bart," used a stun gun on her and pointed a gun at her head before she was bound and gagged with zip ties and a men's necktie, detectives allege.She was eventually able to escape after the suspect became too tired from her fighting, detectives said.
