Newton, age 63 years, of Lawrence, Kansas, a former Jefferson City resident passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 in Orlando, FL.Stan was born February 23, 1954 in West Plains, MO. a son of Delbert Eugene “Gene” and Maggie Belle (Smith) Newton. He was married on March 3, 1972 in Springfield, MO. to Sara Strong and from this marriage his two children were born, Aaron and Courtney. Sara and he remained friends to this day. He was a 1972 graduate of Jefferson City High School and had many lifelong friends through his class. Stan was employed in the energy sector his entire professional career, which spanned over 40 years. He was currently employed as a Senior Originator with Westar Energy, based out of Topeka, Kansas, but he traveled the country working with clients. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Jessie Jilg and also grandma Bea Riebe. Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where Pastor Mikel Lagaras will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017, at the funeral home.
