Monday, October 03, 2016Holy Trinity Lutheran Preschool in Streator is celebrating its 35th year during the 2016-2017 school year.Classes at the preschool began Sept. 6 and Sept. 7 with a bubble launch to commemorate the anniversary. Many other activities are planned.To celebrate previous anniversaries, the children attending the preschool have decorated a quilting square. The ladies from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Quilting Group have used these decorated squares to craft a quilt now displayed in the hallways at the preschool. To celebrate the 35th anniversary, the preschool invites all Holy Trinity Lutheran Preschool alumni to stop in and decorate a quilt square. These squares also will be made into a quilt and displayed at the preschool.Holy Trinity Lutheran Preschool opened in September 1982 after Janice Gehn, a member of Holy Trinity, envisioned starting a preschool as a way to educate and share Christ among the congregation and community.During the first year, the preschool was licensed for 19 children, with two classes attending on Mon...
