She and Bob returned to Indiana in 1987.Ruth worked for Hood's Pharmacy, Magnavox and Switchcraft. She was also an election judge. Ruth enjoyed cooking and playing cards.Survivors include her daughter, Linda Kay (Robert) Ogle of Champaign; son, Stephen Lynn Racer of Muncie, Ind.; granddaughters, Nancy Lynn (Jay) Gould of Noblesville, Ind., and Carolyn Ann Ogle of Tampa, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Kayla Gould of Champaign, Courtney Gould of Noblesville, Ind., and Caden Gould of Noblesville; Charlie had five children, including Debbie Scott (Ramon) of Muncie, Ind.Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at Green Park Cemetery in Portland, Ind.Friends may call from noon until 1 p.m. Thursday at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.Memorial contributions may be directed to Golden Living Center's Interactive Arts Program, 2701 Lyn-Mar Drive, Muncie, IN 47304.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.meeksmortuary.com.
Monday, March 27, 2017CHAMPAIGN – Ora Lee Carroll, 80, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017, at Champaign Urbana Nursing and Rehab in Savoy, IL.She was born on May 11, 1936, in Champaign, IL, to Stanley "Jack" and Margaret (Thompson) Butts.Ora is survived by her children Robert Russell II, Michael Russell, Amber Lynn (Don) Plummer, and Toni Russell; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren with one on the way; and brother Stanley (Doris) Butts.She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Patty Russell; brothers Shelby and George; sisters Pauline and Marianna; and half sister Cubey.Ora loved spending time with her family and she was a devout Baptist. She enjoyed assembling puzzles and watching soap operas. Ora worked at the public aid office for more than 20 years. A celebration of Ora's life will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday March 29, 2017, at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil St. Champaign, IL 61820. Monday, February 20, 2017MAHOMET – Debra Rae Love Clark, 60, of Mahomet passed away at 9:15 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 16, 2017, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.Both the visitation and memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at Grace Church, 800 West Oak St., Mahomet, IL 61853. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. The memorial service will begin at 4:30 p.m. immediately following the conclusion of the visitation. She met her husband Ed Kobel while working at Collegiate Cap and Gown in Champaign. They married on Oct. 1, 1955, at Immaculate Conception Church in Bongard.She is survived by her husband of 61 years and their children, Patty Kobel and Nancy Kobel of Champaign, and Mike Kobel of Urbana; a sister, Marilyn Block (Dan) of Broadlands; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-great-nieces and nephews. She was viewed as a mother and grandmother to numerous extended family.Barb graduated from Longview High School in 1951. After high school, she entered nurses training at Mercy Hospital, Urbana, where she worked as a registered nurse for several years.As an involved stay-at-home mom, she was a Brownie Troop leader, block parent and Champaign Central band booster parent.
