Monday, November 21, 2016Tuscola and Emily (Jordan) Hallett of Tuscola; great-grandchildren, Trey Waldrop, Elizabeth Quinn, Madeline Quinn and Nathaniel Quinn; brother, Jim Compton of Oakwood; and sisters, Juanita Dowler of Villa Grove, Betty Cain of Savoy and Rosie Hill of Allen, Texas.She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Waldrop; son-in-law, Hank Groves; grandson, Cliffton Groves; brothers, Bill, Gerald and Richard Compton; and sister, Delores Richards.Memorials are suggested to Tuscom Little League, P.O. Box 51, Tuscola, IL 61953 or to the Tuscola United Church of Christ.Janet was a homemaker and former bookkeeper for the Douglas County Mental Health Center. She was the treasurer for First Presbyterian Church for many years prior to the church closing; she then became an active member of the Tuscola United Church of Christ.Janet volunteered for many years helping to deliver Peace Meals. She loved all sports but especially was a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs.The family would like to thank all her many friends in Newman, Villa Grove, Hugo, Tuscola and Charleston for their friendship and many acts of kindness. Monday, October 24, 2016VILLA GROVE – Thomas James "Tom" Ryan, 48, died at 5:45 p.m. Friday (Oct. 14, 2016) at The University of Chicago Center for Care and Discovery, Chicago.Visitation services will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 208 N. Pine St., Villa Grove. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Father John Titus of Mattoon will officiate.
