Roy was the youngest of four siblings, Marjorie, Edward and Vivian. Roy was a 1953 graduate of Jacksonville High School.Roy married the love of his life, Jean V. Knight, on Feb. 26, 1956, in White Hall, Ill. She preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 2015. Roy and Jean cherished a wonderful marriage of nearly 59 years. They had three children during this time, Suzi, Steve and Jim.After they were married, Roy lived briefly in Michigan and Wisconsin before returning to Jacksonville. In 1969, Roy and Jean had the opportunity to move to Danville and purchase Danville Wholesale Paper (now Danville Paper and Supply Inc.). During the next several decades they worked tirelessly to build the business and be active citizens in the Danville community. They also were regularly attending members of First Presbyterian Church.Those who knew Roy know that riding his motorcycles was one of his greatest pleasures. Rachel Lynn Goette, of Joppa, MD, died at the age of 23 on Oct. 11, 2016. She was born in Baltimore to Sandra Lynn (Hogan) Haught of Joppa and Wayne Herman Goette of White Hall. She had attended North Harford High School, where she participated in the Drama Club and was a former member of the youth group at Norrisville United Methodist Church. She was involved in ARC of the Northern Chesapeake and loved movies, playing video games, shopping and getting her nails done. She also enjoyed going to dances and loved Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner.In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Carl Wayne Goette and his fiancée, Kimberly, of Joppa; sister, Kelly Amanda Schoeffield and husband, Joshua, of Cockeysville; grandparents, Sandra Lee Hogan of Joppa and Elaine Goette of Fallston; and step-parents, Adam Haught of Joppa and Laurie Goette of White Hall. Pappy will forever remain in the hearts of his grandchildren, Paige Meredith, Colton Meredith, Tessa Elkins, Tre Elkins, Elizabeth Roberts, Corey Roberts and Shawn Roberts. Monty will be missed by all that knew him and the many whose lives he impacted, including a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and a multitude of friends.Monty was preceded in death by his parents, Montaing and Della Meredith.Monty's life celebration service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rickey Hunt officiating. Interment will follow at the Birdsview Cemetery in Waldron. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron.Monty's pallbearers will be David Doyel, Nathan Goodner, Wes Goodner, Allen Langston, Jeremy Slaten, Bubba Slaten, Dean Langston and Buddy Slaten.
