Michael of Murfreesboro, three sons, Ron Burns and his partner Deborah Mitchell of Miami, Florida, Lynn Burns and his wife Kathy of Lawrenceburg, and Norman Burns II and his wife Sandy of Noblesville, Indiana; grandchildren, Brian Williams and his partner Amy Maden, Chad Williams, Abby Wilson and her husband Spencer, Jake Burns, Ryan Burns and his wife Laura, and Caleb Burns, Abigail Burns, Duncan Burns, and Hannah Burns, Lynsey Burns and Landon Burns; five great-grandchildren Jesse, Gracie, Abby, Sadie, and Sawyer; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews whom he adored.Visitation with the family will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with son-in-law Michael Williams officiating. Cemetery in.Mr. Roden was a native of Lauderdale County growing up in Anderson, Alabama. After waging war with boll weevils over a cotton crop, which the boll weevils won, he and his bride moved to Noblesville, IN seeking employment. He always said, “We went to Indiana in a very small suitcase and returned twelve years later in a packed semi-truck and two little Hoosier boys”. When returning to Alabama, he first resided in Lexington and later in Florence. He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Florence where he served as a deacon.He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Valentine Conn; parents, William Edward Roden and Dovie Mae Ridgeway Roden; brother-in-law, Hurchel Burbank and an infant brother.He is survived by two sons, Randel Roden (Pat) and Marcus Roden (Eva); grandchildren, Miranda Bowie (Jason), Mendy King (Clay), Caleb Roden, and Joshua Roden; great-grandchildren, Ava Grace and Lillie King; sister, Mevaline Burbank; numerous nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Darren Burbank, David Wells, Arnold Hall, Robert Gamble, Johnny Benton, and William Kizer.The family would like to thank Northwest Alabama Cancer Center, Mitchell-Hollingsworth Station 6 and Rehab Staff for their care and support.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Central Baptist Church, 1600 Huntsville Road, Florence, Alabama 35630.You are invited to leave condolences at www.elkinsfuneralhome.com.
