She began her teaching career in 1935 with a short stint in a one-room schoolhouse in Hamden, Clinton Township, before going on to teach in North Branch, Green Brook and North Plainfield. She was a science teacher at Cranford High School from 1945-65, and finished her career with five years at Warren Hills Regional High School.A visitation at noon and funeral service at 1 p.m. will be held Monday at the Clinton United Methodist Church on Halstead Street.Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jennie M. Haver Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Nicholas Boxter, CPA, Treasurer, 3582 Route 22 West, P.O. Box 464, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.The fund was organized in memory of New Jersey's first "helping" teacher, Jennie M. Haver, who traveled to rural schools to advise and encourage teachers and supplement their lessons between 1916 and 1950.The fund's board of trustees stated going forward it will be encouraging the community to support the Hunterdon County Vocational School District Education Foundation.

Care at Ocean. Wes was a retired traffic supervisor for the Union County Bureau of Traffic Safety & Maintenance. He was a longtime active member of the Boy Scouts of America. Born and raised in Plainfield he was a lifelong resident.He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene W. Day, Sr. and Gail Day. Surviving is his sister Gail Glenn of West Long Branch, his niece Tammy O’Scanlon and his nephew Thomas Glenn.A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 22 at 11:00 am at Glenwood Cemetery, 190 Monmouth Rd., West Long Branch. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America Jersey Shore Council, 1518 Ridgeway Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. Air Control Wing at Tinker Airforce Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After his service in the air force he became a prison guard working in Plainfield, Indiana. Dennis was a member of Scott Avenue Christian Church and enjoyed his Monday Night men’s Bible study classes. He was a member of the Del City Masonic Lodge in Del City, Oklahoma. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing and camping.Dennis is survived by his children, Daniel (Billi) Brooks of Willow Hill and Jacob (Kehli Lautenschlager) Brooks of Newton; grandchildren, Willow Brooks and 2 grandsons to be born soon; sisters, Doris Facer of Newton, Deania (Tony) Trimble of Newton, Anna (Joshua) Shlachter of Gurnee, and Janet Cramer of Newton.Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents Eugene and Ruby Hester and Victor and Beulah Brooks.
