Monday, January 09, 2017Carey Stull(Photo: Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service)Carey M. “Gummer” Stull, 59, Belle Plaine, Iowa passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, at Marengo Memorial Hospital in Marengo, following a sudden illness.A celebration of life is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service of Belle Plaine. Memorial may be made to the family. Online condolences can be sent at www.hrabakfuneralhome.com.Carey Merlin, the son of Charles and Phillis (Smith) Stull was born Oct. 30, 1957 in Iowa. He attended Belle Plaine High School. Following high school Carey went to work for Funks Seed Corn in Belle Plaine where he worked for 20 years. He was united together with Nora Anderson together the couple raised their son Jayson Stull, they later went their separate ways. Currently Carey worked for Riverbend Industries.Carey enjoyed hunting, fishing, target shooting and taking photos of the outdoors. Monday, January 02, 2017Marilyn Benishek(Photo: Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service)Marilyn Mae Benishek (nee Schultz), 92, of Belle Plaine, died peacefully on December 22, 2016 of natural causes with her family by her side at the Mayflower Community in Grinnell.Marilyn was home delivered on May 21, 1924 in Bryant, South Dakota. Her parents, William and Emma (nee Pauls), packed their life belongings along with their eight children and their dog, Shep, into a Model A Ford and drove to Van Horne to farm. They moved a total of thirteen times until they settled on a farm near Dysart. A graduate of Belle Plaine High School in 1942, Marilyn worked as a clerk at Klink’s Drug Store (and for two other proprietors), transitioning to Casey’s General Store until she retired.She is survived by her sisters, Ona (Lawrence) Danker and Shirley (Raymond) Larsen; children, Lowell D. Benishek (Julie Molitor) of Canon City, CO, Lee A. Benishek (Pam Kriegel) of Brooklyn, IA and Lois A. Perez of Belle Plaine; her father, Benjamin E. Apodaca of Texas; two sisters, Elysia Severson and Mia Perez of Belle Plaine; two brothers, Elijah Apodaca and Alfonso Apodaca of Texas; maternal grandmother, Tamara Johnson of Marion; maternal grandfather, Bill (Cathy) Van Nevel of Belle Plaine; maternal great-grandmother, Cella Van Nevel of Belle Plaine; maternal great-grandfather, Dick Renzo of Traer; and her boyfriend, Cody Northrop of Texas.She was preceded in death by two sisters, Naomi Apodaca and Isabella Severson; paternal grandparents, John and Deborah Apodaca; maternal great-grandmother, Nancy Renzo.Selena was born November 24, 1999, the daughter of Benjamin Apodaca and Jennifer (Van Nevel) Perez. She was in the 11th grade at Linn-Mar High School in Marion.
