Mrs. Elliott passed away Friday, March 24, at Genesis Medical Center-East Rusholme Street, Davenport.Thelma E. Amlong was born May 3, 1924, a daughter of Cecil and Audrey (Haller) Amlong. She was united in marriage to Dale I. Elliott on Oct. 20, 1942. He preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2007, after almost 65 years of marriage together. After retiring as a bookkeeper from Tupperware home parties, Thelma enjoyed 30 years working as a volunteer at Genesis East, ordering and arranging plants for the gift shop. Services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly and Jersey Ridge Roads, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park with military honors conducted by the Walcott American Legion. Memorials may be made to Walcott American Legion, Calvary Lutheran Church, or Camp Courageous.Gene was born Jan. 27, 1941, in Davenport to Harold and Bernice (Claussen) Meyer. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962 when he was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage to Dolores Hass on Oct. 3, 1964, in Dixon, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Donald R. DeWulf on June 15, 1948, at St. Ann’s, Long Grove. He preceded her in death Dec. 5, 2008, after 60 years of marriage.She was a bank teller for many years at Central Trust and Savings Bank in Eldridge.Shirley was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and the St. Ann’s Guild.Shirley was deeply devoted to her family. She would never miss an opportunity to be at a sporting event or any activity that her family was participating in. She enjoyed playing cards and “no mercy croquet” with her children and grandchildren, and was a wonderful, loving caregiver to her husband, Don, in his final years. Now they are reunited on Heaven’s dance floor.
