Saturday, June 10, 2017William Kenneth Stoneking, 58, of Carbon Hill, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017, surrounded by his family and friends at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.Visitation will be held Sunday, June 11, 2017, from 4 until 6 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 12, 2017, at 10 a.m. in the Kilgore-Green Chapel. The Rev. Don Graham will officiate.Stoneking was born Jan. 8, 1959, in St. Louis, Mo. He was a loving husband, dad, brother, grandpa and a friend. He was a child at heart and he loved teaching and showing the children of his family and friends fantastic new experiences. He enjoyed the outdoors whether it be camping, fishing, kayaking or riding his bike. He also spent his extra time turning wood into masterpieces. He was an avid Alabama football fan “Roll Tide.” Many turned to him for guidance and he always offered his kind, honest, loving words of wisdom. He was truly loved by many and he will be missed by all who knew him.He was preceded in death by his mother, Bettye Joan Brennecke Stoneking; and grandparents, Fred Brennecke and Louise Brennecke, Marvin Lee Stoneking and Flossie Marie...
Saturday, June 10, 2017Chevy Impala, a ’61 Chevy Bel Air Bubbletop and a ’65 Pontiac 2+2. He enjoyed socializing with car club members and was a regular fixture in Poppleton Park in Birmingham during the Dream Cruise in August as well as many cruise nights around the Metro Detroit area.Visitation was at the Coats Funeral Home in Waterford. Funeral was at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Waterford. Burial was at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
Tuesday, April 18, 2017Together, along with staff, they earned numerous awards for customer satisfaction and service. Hall was always proud of his Catholic upbringing, which included education at Birmingham Brother Rice High School, and an active faith life at Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Blanc. He believed strongly in treating others the way he wanted to be treated. He was also a dedicated family man, enjoying time spent with his wife, Jennifer, and daughters Lindsay, Ashley and Lauren. In fact, it was his love and pride for his family that made the purchase of the local Chrysler dealership possible 12 years ago. “The owner already had a deal and a deposit from another guy interested in buying the dealership,” said Hall, in a Times story from Aug. 28, 2015. “But he had the letter I had sent with a photo of my family in a folder on his desk and said that it so impacted him, he sent the check back to the other guy and told me he wanted to do business with me.” Family and friends are invited to visitation on Monday, April 17 from 12 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 W. Hill Rd. Visitation will continue at Holy Family Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 18 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Cremation will take place following Mass. Other survivors include his mother, Louise Hall of West Bloomfield and siblings, Louise, Kathy, Dan, Tim and Jerry, plus many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Powers Catholic High School Educational Trust Fund or the Kidney Foundation.. ...
Monday, February 27, 2017Also surviving are cousins, James Franklin and Linda Nugent Ford of Gadsden, Alabama, John Lloyd Ford and Brunhilde Stickler Ford; and their children of Pasadena, Texas, James Gregory Ford of Birmingham, Alabama, Michael Howard Ford and Dawn Ledbetter Ford of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Peggy Ford Chastain of Glencoe, Alabama. She was predeceased by beloved husband, James Edwin Ludlum; son, James Scott Ludlum; parents, Oscar Tillman Breeden, Sr. and Allen Millican Breeden; and brother, Oscar Tillman Breeden, Jr. Born in Keener, Alabama on Sunday, September 10, 1933, Peggy was raised in Glencoe and attended Jacksonville State University and Howard College, now Samford University in Birmingham. Married to the love of her life, Jim, in 1956, they were separated by his death in Roanoke, Virginia in 2010. Peggy Jane will be lovingly remembered for her treasured holiday gatherings and as a consummate daughter, wife, mother and friend. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Crestwood Funeral Home at 2209 East Broad Street in Gadsden, Alabama, 256-492-5544.
