Monday, June 26, 2017She later enjoyed employment with the Pink Panda Water Bed Company. She was then a self-employed tax consultant for many years.Maxine was a proud member of Happy Hill Church in Ramona. She was of Cherokee Indian descent, a fact of which she was also very proud. She enjoyed many things in life, such as reading, crocheting and fishing, but most of all, she enjoyed her family.Survivors include, son, Ray Moland, of Bartlesville; daughters, Jo Anne Bennett of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Marsha Cates (Don), of Bartlesville; Janeen McGuire of Bartlesville; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William Ray Thomas and Clifford Zeldon Thomas and sister, Ruby Louise Sears.Remembrances may be made in Maxine’s memory to the Happy Hill Church, 399758 W. 3100 Rd, Ramona, OK 74061.Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 am-8:00 pm in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Monday, March 27, 2017Sooner football fan throughout her life, with the notable exception of the Barry Switzer years. Ann was proud of her Oklahoma roots. Her grandfather, Michael Raphael Conway, took part in the Cherokee Strip land run of 1893. He homesteaded a parcel of land near Billings and made an initial home there by digging a cave in the ground. He later built a proper house. One of the bedrooms in the new house had a trap door that opened to the original cave. Michael raised wheat and cattle and went on to become a prominent citizen in Noble County. He was elected county treasurer and helped found a bank in Perry. Ann was a career woman before being a career woman was cool. Shortly after graduating from OU, she was hired by Oklahoma Natural Gas. The company sponsored "Lookin' at Cookin'" one of the first shows to air regularly on KOTV after the station launched in October 1949. (KOTV was the first TV station in Tulsa and the second in Oklahoma. WFOR in Oklahoma City was the first.) Ann hosted "Lookin' at Cookin'" when it debuted on KOTV on December 8, 1949. "Lookin' at Cookin'" would continue to air on KOTV for the next 32 years and was one of the longest-running shows in the history of the station. ("Lewis Meyer's Bookshelf" which aired for 42 years, holds the longevity record at KOTV.) In addition to her duties on KOTV, Ann traveled the state on behalf of ONG doing cooking demonstrations. She also taught what ONG called "kitcheneering classes" that were "designed to help the new homemaker, brides, brides-to-be, career girls, and business women." Monday, March 06, 2017Pope Paul IV in 1976 and married Linda Meister on Jan. 19, 1976. He adopted Linda’s three sons: Brett, Corey and Dennis Meister.In 1975, Don was employed as executive director of the Cherokee County Work-Activity Center and remained in that position until his retirement in 2002. One year later, he began part-time employment as chaplain for Tyson Foods in Cherokee, a position he held until his full retirement in 2010.Don’s life was centered on his Lord, his wife and family. He closely followed the progress of his children and grandchildren and their involvement in school and out of school. He was an active Catholic and a dedicated follower of Jesus, his risen Lord. Don was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Holy Name Council. He enjoyed making things of steel and wood, especially the “cross of the Resurrection,” which he made and gave to many persons in the community. Don enjoyed making bread, cooking, fixing things, playing the guitar, observing social processes and nature.He is survived by his wife, Linda of Marcus; three sons, Brett (Kelleen) of Atlanta, Corey (Gina) of Moville, and Dennis (Angie) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; Kaitlin (Brenton) Brown, Brooklyn (Joshua) Neely, Brady, Carly, Jack Meister, Evan and Emily Meister; one great-grandchild Alice Brown; one brother Jim Agostine and his companion Trudy Gries, and many nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. Siple, 69, of Le Mars, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017.Linda Faye Siple was born on March 9, 1947 in Cherokee, one of three children born to Robert and LaVonne (Hurd) Paslay. She graduated from Meriden-Cleghorn High School in 1965 and furthered her education at the Le Mars Beauty College.On Dec. 30, 1968, Linda and James Siple were united in marriage at the Cherokee United Methodist Church. When Jim returned from the Vietnam War, the couple made their home in Le Mars.Linda worked as a cosmetologist at Gingham Girls in Sioux City. She would later join Jim and operate the Pantry Café in Le Mars. Along with owning the café, Linda opened The Right Match, a store that specialized in tennis equipment and clothing.After closing The Right Match, Linda took classes at Western Iowa Technical Community College in Sioux City where she studied as a surgery technician. She began in the housekeeping department at Floyd Valley Hospital and later worked as a surgical technician’s assistant.
