He also leaves behind one precious granddaughter, Lydia, and one grandchild soon to be born.He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Freking, Jr.; a sister, Linda (Freking) Bouma; a sister-in-law, Mary (Schroeder) Freking; a nephew, Brody Freking; and father-in-law, Arvid Holthe.Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at the Benton Church, 14300 SW 20th St., Benton, Kansas. Food and drink will be provided following the service.Steve's seven brothers, Randy, Dale, Jeff, Dean, Jerry, Church and Doug, and a friend, Doug Reuter, and brother-in-law Dennis Meister, will be pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Noakes and Pete Sullivan.Arrangements are under the direction of Lamb Funeral Home in Whitewater, Kansas.
Monday, November 28, 2016Maurice Kingsley "Morris" McConnell, 90, a resident of Harrisburg, died at 12:26 p.m., Friday, Nov.18, 2016 at his residence.McConnell was born on May 1, 1926 to Kingsley Edward and Ethel Mae (Renshaw) McConnell in Saline County. On June 5, 1951, he married Betty Shea, and she survives. McConnell was a farmer and an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Buena Vista Community Church, but recently attended Little Chapel Church.He is survived by his wife, Betty McConnell, of Harrisburg; daughter, Sally, and husband, Jeff Phipps, of Harrisburg; sons-in-law, Elvis Riley of Harrisburg and Mike Hernandez of Galatia; one sister, Betty Mazikas of Raleigh; and a sister-in-law, Lucy McConnell of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Jerad and wife, Connie Hernandez, Kari and husband, Cory Ellet, Jason and wife, April Douglas, David Riley, Adam Riley, Emily Phipps, Amy and husband, Nick Mott, and Matthew Phipps along with four great-grandchildren.Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by dau...
