Monday, September 26, 2016Megan Q. Sloss, 24, of Guthrie Center, Iowa, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016. (Twigg Funeral Home)LAKE VIEW, Iowa (KWQC) – A Guthrie Center, Iowa woman has died after suffering a gunshot wound Sunday in Sac County.Megan Q. Sloss, 24, was airlifted to a Des Moines hospital where she was pronounced dead on Sept. 18, 2016.The shooting happened inside a vehicle Sunday at around 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of Highways 175 and 71 east of Lake View.The Sac County Sheriff’s Office says Sloss was in the driver’s seat of the vehicle when a male front-seat passenger was handling a loaded 9mm handgun and “the gun reportedly accidentally discharged,” striking Sloss.The case is being investigated by the Sac County Sheriff and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and the agencies have not released the name of the male involved.According to her obituary, Sloss was a master’s student studying social services at the University of Iowa.“Megan planned to spend her career helping children and adults in need,” according to her obituary, which says Sloss, a former homecoming queen, was worki...
