Jefferson City High School and worked at the tennis courts under the Jefferson City Parks and Recreation Department while in high school. She later attended the Midwestern School of Evangelism in Ottumwa, Iowa where she met her husband, Rick.Glenda was employed as a Medical Billing Clerk for over 35 years in the health care profession until ill health forced her retirement on February 23, 2015. She began her professional career with Doerhoff Surgical Services (1980 – 1997), later worked with Dr. Diane Light (1997 – 2008), and retired from medical billing at Capital Region Medical Center (2008 – 2015).She was an active member of the Capital West Christian Church and loved to support Rick in his ministry. Previously, she was a member of the Highway 54 Church of Christ from 1978 until 2000 where she played the piano. Ms. Glenda found her calling with children’s ministry, especially pre-school children. She was a gifted Sunday school teacher and children loved her story telling ability. She became a trusted friend and mentor to many young women at the church. Glenda was extremely creative and enjoyed crafting, yard sales, and decorating her home. She was especially known for her unique Christmas trees that she would plan all year. Andrew “Andy” Hubanks, 69, of Ottumwa, Iowa, died at 1:45 a.m. Feb. 8, at home.He was born Nov. 7, 1947, in Prairie du Chien, to Robert and Adeline Ceplecha Hubanks. He married Roni Kasper on April 19, 1975. Andy had worked for 19 years for Cargill Meat Solutions, retiring in 2010.Surviving are his wife, Roni; his children, Renee Hubanks, of Prairie du Chien, Andrea Hubanks, of Chanute, Kan., Amy Hubanks and Josey (Brooke) Hubanks, both of Ottumwa; four grandchildren, Andrew Hilgemann, P.J. Tesar, Jaymee McClain and Jax Hamilton; his siblings, Melinda (Don) Moore, Robert (Debbie) Hubanks, Thomas (Peggy) Hubanks, Shane (Marsha) Hubanks, Cindy (Kevin) Henning, Patrick (Kris) Hubanks, Mindy (Wes) Horstmann and Renita (Mark) Groom; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Michael and Steve Hubanks. His body has been cremated and services will be held at a later date. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepmother, sister, stepbrother and a son. His capacity for love of family and friends was immense and he was loved by all.Doug was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, on March 11, 1939. As one of nine children in a strong, religious family of limited means he quickly learned the importance of God, family, personal integrity, competitiveness, hard work, and perseverance. He applied these principles early on to his pursuit of learning, especially in the sciences and humanities. He also loved athletics and lettered in basketball, track and football. In his senior year of high school he was awarded first-team, all-state quarterback for his role in leading the Ottumwa Bulldogs to the state championship. In college, he played soccer and baseball. After college he passionately pursued tennis and golf. He would never miss a chance to join his friends and family in any competitive game from ping pong to basketball or floor hockey.He was an intelligent, insightful and compassionate man who understood the importance of education-enabled service to others. After graduating with honors in both English and chemistry from Greenville College in Illinois in 1961, he received his MD with honors from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1965.
