Merlin D. Hutchinson, age 61, of Storm Lake, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, at Unity Point St. Luke’s Medical Center in Sioux City. Merlin Dean Hutchinson, son of Virgil and Charolette (Nation) Hutchinson, was born June 6, 1955, in Sac City. Merlin grew up in Sac City and attended the Sac City Community School, graduating with the Class of 1973. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Christian Church in Sac City. After graduation, Merlin continued his education at DMACC in Ankeny, and KU Medical in Kansas City, KS, where he received his Certification as a Special Procedure X-ray Technologist. He spent many hours doing his clinical studies at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. On February 14, 1992, Merlin was united in marriage to Melody Robuck in Des Moines. Together they were proud parents to Donald, Eugene, Virgil and Jacquelyn. Throughout his career, Merlin worked in Kansas, Missouri, and Iowa as a Radiological Technologist. Brumm, age 84, of Storm Lake, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2016 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.??Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Sept. 6, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial followed in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements.John Roman Brumm was born July 18, 1932 in Meyer, the son of Lawrence and Sabina (Mullenbach) Brumm.As an infant, John was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Meyer where he was later confirmed.John attended school at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Meyer.On Aug. 18, 1953, John was united in marriage to Mary Teresa Kasel at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They were blessed with 10 children: Karen, Darryl, Donna, Scott, Carmen, Bruce, Nancy, Kurt, Mark and Terry.Throughout his life, John was a hard worker. Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home.Bill was born in Spencer on Aug. 3, 1926, the oldest child of LeRoy Anthony Rader and Anna Rita (Burns) Rader.The Rader family moved from Spencer to Des Moines in 1932 and from Des Moines to Storm Lake in 1938. In 1944, Bill graduated from Storm Lake Senior High School, where he served as senior class president. He then enlisted in the United States Navy, in which he became a signalman and served in the Pacific Theater.Bill became a student at the University of Iowa in 1946 and graduated with a B.A. in 1950. He attained a M.Sc. in geology in the following year. While at Iowa, Bill served as the vice president of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity and was an associate member of Sigma Xi.In 1949, Bill married Maryanne Love Larrabee, and the couple had two children, William Larrabee Rader and Charles LeRoy Rader.While at the University of Iowa, Bill was offered the position of geologist by Standard Oil Company of Texas (Standard of California).
