She was born on Oct. 20, 1930 in Chattanooga, Tenn. to parents Lawrence S. and Ollie Tatum Whittemore. She lived in Victoria, Texas and was originally from Calhoun, graduating from Red Bud High School and Reinhardt College.She was preceded in death by her grandson Justin Lehnert, her parents, brothers Ray, Rawlan, and Robert Whittemore, sisters Mary Kathryn Poarch and Joann Martin.Sadie is survived by her husband Kenneth M. Price, her children, Bruce Price (Karen), Carol Price, Cyndy Price Hinds, and Pam Price. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Shelley Stary Cano, Jennifer Lehnert and Kari Luster and great-grandchildren, Ross Stary, Garrett Lehnert, and Madilyn DeRouen. Brother Lawrence Whittemore (Mary) of Adairsville, sisters, Jeanette Ruddell (Phil) and Frances Whittemore of Calhoun.Sadie was a member of Northside Baptist Church. She had a full, long life and was known for her ability to love unconditionally.Visitation was held Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Funeral Service was held Monday, March 6, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Northside Baptist Church. Mr. Vaughan was a member of Lighted Pathway Church of God. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Serving in both of these secretarial positions was a source of great pleasure for Marcella. Eventually she moved to The Hearth in Southbury, where she has lived for the past 15 years.Marcella is survived by her children, Attorney John H. Burns and his wife Christina of Sarasota, FL; Thomas F. Burns and his wife Elaine of Columbia, CT; Jane Ann Cross and her husband Stephen of Bethlehem, CT and Eileen Wenzel and her husband the Honorable William J. Wenzel of Southport, CT. She was the proud grandmother to William Wenzel and his wife Lei-Lani; Christopher Wenzel and his fiancé Kathryn Erickson; Elizabeth Bechtold and her husband Justin; Matthew Burns; Caitlin Jane Cross and her fiancé Cem McAvoy; Attorney Ashley Purdy and her husband Jason and Sarah Burns and her fiancé David Laurello. Margery was one of the founding members of the Friends of the Library at the Howard Whittemore Memorial Library of Naugatuck, served as second vice-president of The Women’s Study Club of Naugatuck, was a volunteer for the Naugatuck Chapter of the American Red Cross, and was a member of the Association of Yale Alumni (AYA). She also served on the Steering Committee and as a production assistant at Seven Angels Theatre of Waterbury, and was a member of the American Theatre Critics Association and the Connecticut Critics Circle. Margery also proudly served as an active voting member for the Outer Critics Circle, reviewing Broadway and off-Broadway productions for over twenty years. Margery is survived by her daughters, Nancy Fray (Walter) and Lisa Leonard (Lucy), and her son, Zachary Leonard (Julia), along with her most beloved granddaughter, Lila Clarisse Leonard. She also leaves her beloved sister Barbara Brennan Schaefer of Houston, her sisters-in-law, Joan Brennan of Beacon Falls and Mary Leonard of Marblehead, MA, along with many adored and loved nieces and nephews with whom she shared many travel and theatre adventures. Margery also leaves her dear friends, Semina DeLaurentis, Ruth Gaylord and Natalie Mitchinson who provided much love and support over many years. In addition to her husband and parents, Margery was predeceased by her son, Richard and her brothers, Roger and Franklyn.
