She had previously spent three years as a traffic enforcement agent. Captain Vincent Greany, the commanding officer of the Ninth precinct, delivered an emotional remembrance of Bennett. “We shouldn’t be here,” said Greany. “We’re all supposed to live until we’re around 90 and die peacefully in our sleep.” He then addressed the rookies in the room, telling them to keep Bennett in their thoughts.Buses shuttled fellow Finest to the funeral.(Gardiner Anderson/for New York Daily News) “I want to make sure you understand the responsibility: You have to carry Bianca with you every day,” he said. “Reflect on her energy, her personality and her statement of this job being her dream.” Bennett and her fiancé Michael Coleman were scheduled to be wed on April 8. “I’m held together with paper clips and scotch tape right now. I ain’t used to feeling like this,” Bennett’s fiance, Michael Coleman said. “I feel vulnerable. That was my strength right there.” Bennett was a passenger in a 2012 Dodge Charger driven by Sgt. Randolph Price late Feb. 1 when the speeding car careened into a tree stump near City Island in the Bronx. While fast-moving flames doomed Bennett, Price was critically injured and pulled from the muscle car by a pair of cops who happen to be driving home from the nearby Rodman’s Neck firing range. Bennett’s mother thanked the NYPD for being her daughter’s second family. “The NYPD, it is the love that you guys have shown our family that has kept us,” she said. “I can’t cry because of all the love and support and the prayers.” Tags:nypdcar crashesSend a Letter to the EditorJoin the Conversation:facebookTweet...
