Jean M. Van Pelt, 66 of Oceanport, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. Born in Sparta, she had lived in Long Branch before moving to Oceanport in 1992. Jean was a secretary for the Long Branch Board of Education for 24 years before retiring in 2015. She was a parishioner of St. Michael’s R.C. Church in West End, Long Branch. She was predeceased by her parents, John and June Ronovitz. Surviving are her husband, Artie Van Pelt; her daughter, Catherine Van Pelt-Shok and her wife, Allison Shok; 2 sisters, Joanne Chattaway and Julie Andreasen; 2 sisters-in-law, Rosemarie Pingitore and Rabbine Harpell and many nieces and nephews Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 29 from 4-8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., (corner of Third Ave.) in Long Branch. Daniel A. Dufford, 66 of Oceanport, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at home. He was born in Jamaica, NY. Daniel was an accomplished thoroughbred racehorse trainer at Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport. He has trained many stake winners as well at “Rumptious”; N.J. Thoroughbred Horse of the Year. Following his training career he moved into the racing office at Monmouth Park where he started as an official and eventually became stakes coordinator. He was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Margaret Dufford. Surviving is his wife, Charlene; his step-son, Michael Natale and step-daughter, Alyssa Williams; his brother and sister in law, Gerald and Kathy Dufford and their children, Kathleen Menendez and Kevin Dufford; and his sister, Diane Dufford.Damiano Funeral Home in Long Branch is in charge of the arrangements. Alfred G. Inacio, 82 of Oceanport formerly of Edison, died peacefully on March 24, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. Born in South River, he had lived in Edison before moving to Oceanport 8 years ago. Al was the proprietor of Inacio Contractors Inc. in Edison and was a member of the Edison Planning Board. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Precious Blood in Monmouth Beach and served his country honorably in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflicts. Al was so proud of his three sons, both John and Jim worked with him in the family business and Rick is a doctor of chiropractic. He loved his five grandchildren dearly. He could always be found at a sporting event or at one of their school functions. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Mary Lou Inacio; three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Kathy Inacio; Rick and Lana Inacio and Jim and Kate Inacio; five grandchildren, Jamie, Grace, Ella, Michael and Ashley; a sister-in-law, Barbara Sica and his two nephews and their families.
