A 48-year-old Waldoboro man died when his pickup crashed into the back of a turnpike plow truck on the Maine Turnpike in Wells around 6:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 6.Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland identified the man as Michael Sands. Maine State Police troopers said Sands died instantly.The crash was at mile 16 in the far left lane of the northbound side.The scene of a fatal accident on the Maine Turnpike in Wells the morning of Friday, Jan. 6. Michael Sands, 48, of Waldoboro, died in the crash.
